ISC is a premier sailing venue in the midwest

The Indianapolis Sailing Club is provides it's members year round sailing and social activites.  Located on Geist Reservoir,  we have 10 sailing fleets from Lasers to Keelboats.  Racing every Sunday and Wednesday as well as training classes and sailing camps.  ISC is the place for the whole family to sail.

A 13 acre property provides room for all. The 'park like' setting is a jewel on Geist.  There is ample car and boat parking.  The beach, playground, fire pits and picnic areas provide places for friends and family to gather off the water.


The property is surrounded by water.  The bulkhead has two hoist and a deep ramp for launching.  There are 90 keelboat slips and courtesy docks along the waterfront.  The  Committee Boat and Safety Fleet provide support on the water.

History  |  ISC was founded in 1955

In 1943 the Indianapolis Water Company (IWC) dammed up Fall Creek to create a reservoir, covering 18,000 acres and containing over 7 billion gallons of water. Built as a water source for the city of Indianapolis, Geist Reservoir was used by only a few fishermen for the next dozen years. On November 26, 1954, Jack Messmer gathered some of his sailing buddies at the Athenaeum in Downtown Indianapolis to form a sailing group....
