2004 Club Championship Regatta
Tug Townsend along with crew and brother Bill Townsend are the 2004 ISC Club Champions. The Club Championship regatta was held on October 16, 2004 in "challenging" conditions: temperatures hovered in the 40s with wind chills in the 30s combined with a short rain squall and generally threatening weather all day. Winds built during the day from 17-21 mph for the 1st race to 18-23 mph sustained with gusts to 30 mph for the 4th race. Winning the Club Championship required attention to shifts, perserverance and survival. Tug demonstrated all of those in spades as he won the Championship despite capsizing in the final race! Tug and Bill righted their boat and went on to finish the race. |
