ISC Masters Regatta

The 2007 ISC Masters Regatta was sailed on Saturday, September 1 (re-scheduled from a no wind July 28 day). The conditions were ideal for great sailing, with winds from the northeast, 10-15mph average, plus some stronger gusts as we approached the noon hour, with temperatures reaching the 80 degree mark during the three races sailed. This event was open to any ISC skipper, 55 years old or older. Each skipper sailed his own boat with any number crew members desired, regardless of age. Because of multiple classes of boats sailed (5), all races were scored utilizing the D-PN handicapping system to determine scored finishing positions.

The sailing was top notch both in conditions and the competition, as you will see in the results below. All six of the event?s participants and their crews are tops in their respective fleets. The only element missing was more competition ? we all know that there are far more than six members of our club who are at least 55 years or older!

After sailing, all of those involved in the event were treated to light food refreshments provided by the Thistle Fleet Asst. Social Chair, Carol Robinson and her sister-in-law Cindy. Social Committee Chair (and Vice Commodore) Scott Hicks provided the cold beverages that kept some of the participants attached to the deck until late in the afternoon.
