Dario Franchitti Wins 91st Indianapolis 500

Dario Franchitti held on to win a rain shortened (only 166 of the 200 scheduled laps were completed) and delayed 91st running of the Indianapolis 500. Rain halted the race at 3PM and lap 113 with Andretti-Green Racing driver Tony Kanaan leading. Kanaan would crash on lap 156 when racing resumed after the rain stopped and the track had dried. Marco Andretti then inherited the lead but would crash in spectactular fashion on lap 163 giving Franchitti the lead. Michael Andretti has now won the Indianapolis 500 twice as an owner, a feat he never accomplished as a driver. The Indianapolis Star and Indianapolis Motor Speedway have detailed coverage.

ISC Member Profiles

Introducing a new feature of the ISC website: member profiles. Periodically, I will profile an ISC member on their sailing accomplishments, contributions to the club, interesting sailing stories and anything else of interest. With any luck, this will let everyone get a better feel for what the club is all about and get to know our members a little better.
