Town of Fishers Annexes Land Under Geist Reservoir

AtGeist reports that the Town of Fishers has annexed the land (or a portion thereof) under Geist Reservoir. It is unclear whether the annexation is legal as apparently Indianapolis Water Company, owner of Geist Reservoir, is unaware of the annexation. Also in doubt are the reasons why the Town of Fishers would want to annex property that is not taxable, although Tom Britt speculates that this may be an attempt to bolster their proposed annexation of other, above water, property around Geist Reservoir.

Tragedy in Volvo Ocean Race

I just now read the news concerning the death of ABN AMRO TWO crewmember Hans Horrevoets on May 18 during Leg Seven of the Volvo Ocean Race. Hans was apparently swept overboard and while the crew of ABN AMRO TWO managed to recover him (no small feat in 15 foot seas and 25-30 knot winds), they were unable to revive him. If losing a life wasn't enough, the crew of movistar decided to abandon ship after the aft end of the canting keel pivot bearing failed. The team's efforts to locate the vessel have so far been in vain...
