| Team Capitalia Is Third Italian Team To Challenge For 2007 America's Cup |
|
The Mascalzone Latino team from the 2002 America's Cup in Auckland, NZ has submitted its
challenge for the 2007 America's Cup under the new name Team Capitalia.
The team is led by Italian shipping and ferry service magnate Vincenzo Onorato who also campaigns
a very successful Farr 40 program under the Mucalzone Latino banner.
The team's success in the 2002 America's Cup was limited, but Onorato insists that a long-term campaign
was always part of the team's plan:
"You have to try and try and try and learn and try again. In the last America's Cup,
we were competing to learn. This time, we are serious. I like the feeling on this
team. We are focused and committed to fight to the end."

| Orange II Sets New 'Round The World Record |
|
Bruno Peyron and his crew aboard the catamaran Orange II have smashed the around the world record
set just last year by Steve Fossett and his crew aboard Cheyenne. Peyron completed the circumnavigation
in 50 days, 16 hours, 20 minutes and 4 seconds.
Immediately after completing the circumnavigation, Peyron relayed his emotions via radio:
"It's more emotion than joy. It corresponds to the long hard slog. So there's no explosion. It's intense,
violent, just like this round the world voyage. I really love this night, and we're going to try to make
the most of it. Everyone is out on deck, and I don't think we'll be sleeping much before we get back on
dry land, even if we haven't really made any plans. This is a genuine record, which is beyond dispute.
The boat is certainly a classy creation and was handled by a superb crew. We'll have plenty of time to
talk about it again."

| Steve Fossett Completes Solo Non-Stop Global Flight |
|
Steve Fossett successfully completed
his solo non-stop circumnavigation of the globe via airplane this afternoon. Fossett's aircraft,
the Global Flyer, was designed and built by Scaled Composites. Scaled Composites recently won the
Ansari X-Prize by carrying the equivalent of 3 people to an altitude of
100 kilometers (62.5 miles) and then repeating the feat again (using the same spacecraft) within 2 weeks.
Many sailors will recognize Fossett as the holder of 13 sailing records
as well as numerous other records in ballooning (including the first solo circumnavigation via balloon), gliders,
airships, airplanes and even cross-country skiing. Steve has even participated in the Iditarod Sled Dog Race,
the 24 Hours of LeMans auto race and swam the English Channel (he holds the record for the slowest crossing
at 22 hours).
