| ISC Webmaster in Scuttlebutt! |
|
No, I'm not involved in any controversy! Rather, the April 12th edition
of the Scuttlebutt sailing newsletter includes an email from yours truly
correcting a misleading statement about the winner of the first Whitbread
(now Volvo Ocean) Race in 1973. My email is all the way at the bottom of
the newsletter.
The current issue of Scuttlebutt can be read on the ISC website
here
or you can find the April 12th issue in the Scuttlebutt archives
here.
There goes my 15 minutes of fame...

| Fire/Rescue Boat Fundraiser |
|
The Fishers Fire Department
and Geist Lake Coalition are sponsoring a fundraiser
to help purchase a second fire/rescue boat to complement the department's existing one.
According to Ron Lipps, public information officer for the department:
"All we have right now is your basic, standard speedboat modified
for emergency response. But this new boat would be able to pump
water for a fire and would have a much larger work space and has a
front that drops off so divers can access the water easier."
The department and coalition hope to raise the funds through a Spring Gala at
the new Bella Vita Ristorante in Geist on May 1. Money also will be raised from
an auction including items such as:
- A Harley Davidson motorcycle from Dellen Automotive Group
- A Volkswagen Beetle from Foreste & Brown Automotive
- A Mastercraft boat from Pine Crest Marine
- A Crest pontoon boat from Marina Partnership Ltd
- A Jet Ski from Indy Cycle and Ski
The event is scheduled for May 1st at 7:30PM at the Bella Vita Restaurant on Geist
(11699 Fall Creek Road) and tickets are $125. For more information on the event
contact Clint Crafton. To buy tickets
for the gala, call Gail McDowell at (XXX) XXX-XXX.
UPDATE: ISC has contributed one week of
Junior Training/Sailing Camp to the auction.
