ISC Junior Competes for US Sailing's Junior Singlehanded Championship

The final results for US Sailing's Junior Singlehanded Championship (Smythe Cup) are in and Jason Hubbard from ISC placed 13th out of 20 sailors. Note that Jason scored a bullet in the 7th race so there is some untapped potential waiting to be unleashed! Tyler Andrews from Eagle Creek Sailing Club placed 19th.

Congratulations to both Jason and Tyler on a fine job of representing Indianapolis area sailing at the Junior Singlehanded Championship.

ISC Juniors Compete at Junior Bay Week

ISC has many excellent sailors who are competitive at the national level. ISC junior sailors are no exception to this as they demonstrated at Junior Bay Week in Put-in-Bay, OH held July 20-24. Junior Bay Week is a quarterfinals regatta for the National Sears, Bemis and Smyth Cup trophies for junior sailors.

ISC sent Jared Spaans, Jason Hubbard and Jennifer Estridge this year. In the Smythe Cup competition, Jason finished 2nd (Tyler Andrews, an Eagle Creek Sailing Club member, finished first). Jared finished 3rd in the Commodore division for the Smythe Cup and Jennifer finished 3rd in the Radial division for the Smythe Cup. Jason and Tyler will move on to compete in the Regional competition next week in Rochester, NY.

Congratulations to Jared, Jason, Jennifer and Tyler and good luck to Jason and Tyler at the Regional competition!

Five New Vanguard Optimist Prams Join ISC Junior Training Fleet

Jared, Jason and Jennifer attribute much of their success at Junior Bay Week to the coaching they received from Jess Gerry and Barrett Rhoades, the lead instructors for ISC's Junior Training program. In order to continue supporting the club's junior sailors, ISC has recently purchased 5 brand new Vanguard Prams. The club has additional plans to purchase 5 more new Prams to complete an overhaul of the entire Junior Training Pram fleet.
